Product Design Intern @ Carrot Inc.

As a Product Design Intern at Carrot Inc., a digital health tech startup, our mission was to empower individuals to quit smoking by creating a daily check-in app that made the user's journey gamified. I worked with other interns to help the product team on user features that would keep them engaged and added value to their life. Through simple icons, a main journey page, and fun challenges, the app looked much more appealing and easy to digest, which gave the user much more of an incentive to open the app.

When helping to design the app, we thought some of the biggest things they needed to be able to easily access is their journey step-by-step, their story, and their coach.  We noticed from user tests, people seemed lazy when logging a cigarette in the dashboard, which is why we made a "plus" button on the bottom right to easily log a cigarette. We also used the "My Story" board to show the user how much smoking controlled their lives. To make the app gamified, we added fun challenges such as "pop the balloon" of carbon monoxide, call a loved one today, replace your vice with paper, listen to your favorite song. Through this journey, from start-to-end, we created a delicate platform that had the ability to address the needs of those who wanted to quit in a way that understood the user's cravings and moments of relapse.
